"I had a dream,
I got everything I wanted. Not what you'd think. And if I'm being honest, It might've been a nightmare." North Carolina ; 1770's. Photo by Sherri Burch.

First official outfit finally nearing completion! This suit is typical of that worn in Britain, as well as the Colonies, during the 1770's for a middling-class man.
It features a linen shirt with a matching linen cravat, black wool broadcloth breeches, waistcoat and coat, knitted wool stockings, black leather shoes with brass buckles, and a wool felt 'tricorn' cocked hat. A wooden cane is also carried, as well as a clay pipe with accessories. Textile goods were all made by me. Stockings and shoes courtesy South Union Mills. Hat by M. Brenckle, Hatter. Ever since I started living history well over a decade ago, there have been three time periods that have been my dream to recreate - Ancient Rome, High Medieval Europe and the 18th Century. In recent years, I have accomplished the former two, and now I am more than happy to say I have finally made it to the latter, as well! So here's to opening a whole new page on the site to discuss the fashion, culture and history of the 18th Century in Europe and the Colonies!
