Roman rectangular linen tunic, made from 100% linen in a 'rust' color plain weave, supplied by the buyer. Entirely hand-sewn using locally-sourced linen thread in a double running-stitch and the seams are flat-felled in the Roman fashion and secured with an overcast stitch.
This would be a rich man's tunic, as linen has been historically notoriously difficult to dye and hold certain colors, meaning such a richly-dyed and finely-woven tunic would certainly have been worn be a well-to-do member of Roman society. Rather than hemming the bottom, I opted to keep the gorgeous selvedge that was present. Not only does this expedite the manufacturing process, but also allows the bottom edge to flow and fold more gracefully when worn, rather than one that is stiffened with stitching from bearing a sewn hem.
