Hi I have enjoyed looking around your website. It is interesting to me to learn the origins and evolution of clothing styles since so many factors can play a part. Type and availability of fabrics, costs in money and effort, social influences and climate, among others. I wonder if you can tell me, or guess, if most clothing styles were developed, at least initially, based on the textiles which were available at the time. When looking at the Iron Age clothing especially, many garments have multiple pieces added in here and there and are often form fitting. I wonder if this has to do with available woven fabrics which were narrow as well as time consuming to make. It would make sense to design clothes with the minimal amount of fabric possible and to use smaller cut pieces of fabric to add shape and volume. This would avoid wasting even small pieces of valuable handwoven fabric.. I may just be stating the obvious.
